2014 POST #1

"Nora"
Drawstring Tote  Knotted Shoulder Strap
Needless to say, I'm not very good at writing the Wednesday Weaver Blog.  I've have a bad case of weaver fever.  Here are a few things that are in Studio 40 right now.

I took a great class from Suzy Nonn and this was my take on it - the name is "Zany".  The Class was called Hairy Weaving on a Gourd.  I love the space-dyed reed she dyed.  It took me a long time to figure out how to paint it and to get the top curls anchored.  Guests in the studio actually argue about what it is and, of course, I love the attention it gets. What do you see?

My first fully beaded vessel
Jacqueline Rickard, a Piute teacher, was teaching basic pine needle basketry several years ago at a Squamish Gathering in Washington.  She had fully beaded baskets on display so  I bought one of her beautiful calendars and this is my first attempt.  So many mistakes you can't see...it's a jigsaw puzzle!

Here's an example of some of the things you can do in my twining class:
"Tucson"
"Spring Twining"
I wish I could figure out how to get these pictures all in a row but, oh well, this will have to do!

"Hairy" will be taught at the Misti Washington Gourd & Basket Guild     http://baskets-gourds.com

Here's a bicycle basket made out of all kinds of wood split from Poplin Farms (.com) - Walnut, Oak, Elm, Ash, Sea Grass, Red & Yellow Cedar, Reed, etc.
The pattern came from Jill Choate Basketry and is available online at the Square Market:  https://squareup.com/market/j-choate-basketry/bicycle-shopper-basket-kit
